Why did you choose a career in accounting?
I was never sure on what career path I wanted to take but, when given the option to take A-level accounting at college, I decided that this would be a good opportunity to decide whether accounting was right for me. Within a few months of starting my A-levels, I quickly realised that I had the most interest for accounting compared to my other chosen subjects and so, decided this was the career path I wanted to take.
What made you choose UHY Hacker Young?
I chose UHY as I knew straight away that this would be the best opportunity to help start my career. UHY Hacker Young offered me the chance to learn and study whilst also gaining an insight into the world of work and, as I had now finished college, this sounded like the perfect next step to take.
What has been the best thing about training with UHY?
The best thing about training with UHY is having the chance to be able to study whilst also gaining experience and working in a professional accountancy environment. Since joining the firm nearly a year ago, I have been able to achieve my AAT Level 3 qualification and have already started studying towards my AAT Level 4 exams!
What training and support have you received?
I have received day-to-day training and support from my supervisor and co-workers whom I am very grateful. With their help and guidance, I have learnt so much in such a small space of time. In addition, as I am an AAT Trainee, I attend BPP Colleges where I study for my AAT exams.
What do you like most about your role?
What I like most about my role is the opportunity I have to learn so much about the practicalities of working within an accounting firm and also being given the chance to study alongside my work. I have been at the firm for nearly a year and the role as an AAT trainee has made me realise that pursuing a career in accounting at UHY was definitely the best decision for me!
